I have come to realize the red I see will never be the red you see. If you and I sat down to discuss the color of the sky, we could talk for hours and still never entirely understand each other’s perception of blue. This loss, whether through language or visual perception, prevents us from fully comprehending the true reality of the world, if any, and limits us to possess only our own internal realities. Shaped by individual experiences, these diverging realities strip us of the ability to see the world through another's eyes. Therefore, how can we understand each other? What meaning do our indescribable perceptions hold?
This pondering teeters on the edge of the existentialism we sometimes impose on ourselves, and sprouts speculative questions to which we may never know the answer. Who am I? What is my self-worth? What is my purpose in this world? Is there a meaning in life, and if so, where can I find it?
In this color-drained narrative, I explore the weight of my human existence in the world, the juxtaposition of absence and presence, of nothingness and being. Shot in various scenes and environments across Minneapolis but holding my pose and position constant, I represent the world continuing to revolve endlessly around my miniscule state of temporary being.
